Put the Driver Away
Are you having too many days where you just can’t get it into the fairway? Try a little simple math...140 to the green from the rough or 160 to the green from the fairway...hmmmm… Doesn’t seem to hard to figure out does it.
I know the tendency, nay, the pure need, to nail a driver off the tee. And there are courses and holes where you absolutely have no choice. But given the opportunity to have a choice, think about the length of the hole and the width of your landing area. Can you really get that driver into that little spot? Or are you better off with a 3 wood or even an iron in your hand? Zach Johnson was able to win a Masters without ever reaching a par-5 in 2 shots; you can probably shave a few strokes off by following his lead if you don’t have the driver working that day.
PROS THOUGHT: Come talk to our PGA Professional staff about working the winter kinks out of your game with lessons or one of our Players Programs. We look forward to seeing all of you start to make your way out now that the days are longer and warmer. Hope you are ready for a great 2008 season!
