This week is Three Man Best Ball Net. Some of the other names for the format are “Who Drew the Hot Partner”, “You’re My New Best Friend” and “What Did You Say Your Index Was?” The lunch special will be Soup and 1/2 Sandwich.
HANDICAP RENEWAL TIME!! The time has come for your annual handicap and/or MSGA admin renewal. Most of you have renewed your MSGA dues, but quite a few of you have not renewed your handicap yet. Probably because you didn’t know. Well it’s actually due in three plus weeks, by Feb 21st. So you’ve got plenty of time; sit down, you don’t have to run to the phone. Email Ed Mason at the club at emason@riverridgegolfclub.com or give us a call in the pro shop to renew. Now if you just want to run to the phone to get some exercise and conversation, we’re here waiting for you. Because that’s what we do. River Ridge. We care. This week is the Interclub Qualifier for the Pinecrest Interclub in February. The Southwest Interclub schedule should be finalized this upcoming week, so we’ll get that out to you ASAP.
David Smith and Don Keller were the winners of the Two Man Alternate Shot format this week with a net score of 71.5. Second place went to Ray Mangum and Bob Young with a 77. It was cold and windy, but the troops soldiered on through the conditions to finish strongly. This week will be Three Man Team, Two Best Ball. Call or email the pro shop to sign up.
Our first tournament of the year was the Dave Nahoun Special and great memories and great times were shared by all. The play from the green tees did not produce any outrageous scores, rather just the opposite. A few of you guys overshot the runway, didn’t you? Bob Lowe won it with a net score of 64, followed by Don Keller’s 66 and Butch Mitchell’s 69.
This week will be Two Man Team, Alternate Shot. We have another name for this format where I grew up. We can’t use that here. It’s a family publication. Call or email the pro shop to sign up.

Congratulations go out to Gary Frueh and Fernando DelosReyes for being our 2011 MSGA Champions. Gary edged out Ronnie Matthews in the Net division, while Fernando put up two strong rounds to win the Gross title. The field had a tough go of it on Tuesday; the wind was howling and the temperatures dropping, but they perservered and came through in style. Congratulations guys- nice job!
