MSGA News 08/24/10

Results of last week’s Three Man- 2 Best Net:
1st- Mack Stewart, Ron Hopton and Ronnie Matthews 123;
2nd- Gene Mire, Roy Holliday and Terry Madeira 127
3rd- Hewitt Bauguss, Harold Gluckman and Ray Burton 132.

Winners of today’s Individual Low Gross/ Low Net were:
GROSS 1st- Fernando DelosReyes 72; 2nd- Tom Raley 79; 3rd- Henry Keith 79; and 4th- Ronnie Matthews 80.
NET- 1st- Gerry Trenta 67; 2nd- Ron Hopton 67; 3rd- Larry Snider 68; and 4rh- Gary Poffenbarger 70.

We are back in first place with a slim lead over a hard-charging Longwood team in the Interclub standings. Next opportunity to stretch the lead is in September at Memorial Park. Keep those games sharp, boys- heading into the home stretch in a great spot.

MSGA News 08/11/10

Results of today’s Three Man Shamble Total Net:
1st- Roy Holliday & Bill Clinton- 192;
2nd- Gene Mire, Ray Mangum & Ron Hopton- 193 and
3rd- Rick Harvey, Mack Stewart and Larry Snider- 197.

A fifth place finish coupled with a little help from the field put River Ridge back in the lead in the Southwest Interclub standings. A couple of “B” teams were in the top 5, so we were the beneficiary of a third place points total. Once we’ve received the final update, we’ll update you on the overall standings, but for now, we’re back where we should be.

In The Chase

Tough conditions at the Longwood Interclub, but we hung in there for a fifth place finish. That leaves us one-half point behind Meadowbrook Farms in the chase for our fifth consecutive Interclub Championship. Next event is next Tuesday the 10th at Jersey Meadows.

Say Hey Ray!

How’s this for a day? Step up on the tee of a par 3 as the first hole of a shotgun start. First swing of the day. In the hole. That’s how it happened for Ray Burton in yesterday’s tournament. And despite all advice to get in the car and head in after that swing, Ray kept going. And winds up winning the tournament in the net division. I’d say that’s a day well spent, wouldn’t you? Congratulations, Ray! And let us know when you’re heading out to buy lottery tickets, OK?

2nd- Bob McDaniel, Bob Leitgen & Larry Snider- 53 and
3rd- Gary Frueh, Ray Burton and Richard Martin- 53.

Next week’s tournament has been switched from Tuesday to Wednesday July 21st; 8:00 shotgun start. The format is Stableford Qualifier for the Interclub at Jersey Meadows on August 10.

Remember, the Longwood Interclub has been rescheduled for July 28th. Let Harold know if you are unable to attend.

We only had two skins out in yesterday’s Individual Net Skins Game. Bob Leitgen and Gene Mire were the big winners for the day. Congratulations, gentlemen. Remember, no matter how bad your round, one hole can make a lot of difference in your back pocket.
