Welcome to the Men’s Senior Golf Association (MSGA)

The MSGA, established in 2003, is rapidly closing in on the completion of its third full year of competition. The brainstorm of Jim Apple - assisted by Dennis Gane - they worked with Brent Blackburn, Head Professional of RRGC, to get the association off the ground. Jim served as President of the MSGA since its inception and has quietly worked on becoming a real golf professional. In 2005, Jim passed rigid requirements to join the PGA and took on the position of Assistant Professional at River Ridge. Taking over the position, asimage President of the MSGA is Harold Weddle, who will be working closely with the Vice President, Ed Reynolds. Harold will also be Chairman of the River Ridge Handicap Committee.

In addition to the weekly senior events at River Ridge, the MSGA participates in the monthly Southwest Senior’s Interclub event. Other clubs included in the monthly events are Cypress Lakes Golf Club, Golf Club at Cinco Ranch, Greatwood, Terre Verde, imagePine Crest Country Club, Memorial Park Golf Course, Stephen F. Austin and Willowfork Country Club. Each month we hold a Qualifier for the inter-club using the Stableford system. The top eight scorers qualify to play in the event and will be joined by a pro from River Ridge. River Ridge Golf Club is situated in a wonderful “Out of the city Surroundings” and has been blessed in 2008 with great conditions, including the fairways, greens and “Rough”. Considering the heat and dry conditions, those who have been playing in our events will attest to the fact that in this area no course has been better. The “Pavillion” a great place to gather, eat and pick on the winning “Sandbaggers”, has undergone “Menu” changes and offers something for everyone, including barbeque beef, hamburgers, hotdogs, various sandwiches, salads etc. All great stuff with a wonderful outdoor atmosphere.
